ABOUT US

The Green Building Alliance was formed in 2004 by five organizations, Sustainable Buildings Canada, Canada Green Building Council (Toronto Regional Chapter), Toronto and Region Conservation Authority and the Canadian Urban Institute, to provide leadership and support for the development and advancement of sustainable building practices in the Toronto region, Canada and around the world.

Goals

The Alliance aims to:
  • Build capacity for sustainable design and foster “green” development in new construction, communities and the renovation of existing building stock
  • Develop and facilitate strategic partnerships to educate and promote the development of sustainable building practices
  • Increase the number of sustainable buildings and communities based on a commitment to increased quality and innovation
  • Recognize Canada’s outstanding achievements in sustainable building design and development services
  • Market these achievements internationally to build awareness of Canada’s capacity to export sustainable design and development services
  • Promote and assist market transformation around sustainable building practices locally, nationally and in the developing world
